Sponge cake
You need:
- 3 eggs
- 3 cups of suger
- 3 1/2 cups of flour
- 2 teaspoon of baking powder
- 1 1/2 cups of milk
- 50 g of butter
Seasoning:
- Cardamom
- Ground ginger
- Grated peel of grapefruit or other citrus fruits
- Sunflower seeds
- Fresh basil or lemon balm
Do this:
- Put the oven on 175°C.
- Butter and cover a baking tin with bred crumbs, the baking tin should be about 2 liter or 24 cm in diameter (for 1 cake).
- Beat eggs and suger util puffy. Mix flour, baking powder, the seasoning you want and fold into the egg mixture. Boil milk with butter and stir into the batter. Pour the batter into the baking tin.
- Bake the cake in the lower part of the oven for about 35-40 minuts.
The recipe is a little bit unclear and concise. You get no detailed explanation about what you should do. The recipe can be more clear if they divide step into more and smaller steps. For exempel in step 3, it is four thing you should do. They could change step 3 into 4 smaller steps.
One good thing about the sponge cake recipe is in step 2, where it says how big the baking tin should be. It is good that the steps is in the correct and reasonable order. For exempel the recipe says you should put the oven on first. It is also good that the ingredients are in the order you should use them.
I understand the recipe but it is very simple and unclear.
